Unfortunately, 2010 Brings Us More LiLo & Ed Hardy

While at home, resting from my job, I’ve had the time to scroll through news about fashion from all over the world. And to close this magnificent year that brought us so many wonders, I would like to add my thoughts on two lesser wonders; Lilo’s “extended” fashion line, and a Q&A from the man behind Ed Hardy himself, Christian Audigier…

STYLE PROFILE: Blake Lively

I usually destroy people when I talk about their fashion sense (don’t get me started on Miley), and for some reason those are the most read articles. Yet, Blake Lively is quite difficult for me to criticize because I feel she is really heading towards a fantastic direction in terms of style, especially when discussing the colors she chooses and the labels she prefers. Blake Lively (or our favorite high-school whore from Gossip Girl) is definitely becoming an IT girl in my book.

Victoria Beckham Changes The Look & Name Of Her Denim Line

By now people are recognizing Victoria Beckham as a designer, rather than a former Spice Girl or a footballer wife. She has overcome bad press (eating disorders, infidelities, etc.) and actually shown her doubters that she is not just a skinny bitch, but an intelligent businesswoman. After acclaimed formal collections, she has come forth with the second incarnation of her denim line, called Victoria Beckham Denim. I have no clue why she decided to call the previous one DVB, since no one could easily recognize her famous name. So, in a narcissistic indulgence, she goes ahead and stamps her full name on it.

LC Does Kohls

Regardless of Speidi’s attempts to destroy her, Lauren Conrad seems to come back stronger than ever, be it with books (best-seller LA Candy will become a movie), or a fashion line. For the latter, she joined forces with Kohl’s and was able to put together a simple and cute collection (”easy-breezy-beautiful” comes to mind)…

John Galliano’s Spring 2010 Ready-to-Wear His Best Collection Yet

I love John Galliano’s romantic take on fashion. Ever since Anna Wintour’s illusive mercy fell upon him and recognized him as an up and coming fashion auteur, he has consistently developed collections surrounded by elements of the past and the future of fashion. For the house of Dior, he has been able to showcase several themes from revolutions and wars to the aesthetics of Christian Dior’s atelier several decades ago. However, his own fashion show proves not only his relevance to the fashion community, but that he is only getting better with each and every collection.

Cyrus & Azria Collaboration A Shameful Sham

To express my feelings about what I saw, I must begin with the basics. The fabric is nauseating. It is basically wash-and-throw away, unworthy of even a Forever 21 rack. The lacking of quality in the fibers is a damn shame. Considering that Walmart can get basically anything at a discounted price, it surprises me that they would commit their name to buying these products. Notwithstanding the poor threads, the designs are so simple and uninspired I am also very surprised that Max Azria would lend his name to this charade. See, before this forsaken line, Walmart sold Miley t-shirts and pants, and even those were okay. They were for kids, for simple girls who worshipped her. But now, for young adults or teenagers, it seems rather appalling that they are expected to think this is fashionable. Target’s Gossip Girl inspired line is infinitely better (and believe me, that’s saying a lot) and it has been more cared for and closely watched by someone who knows about the fashion industry. Here, basically two celebrities lent their voices and personalities to sell a completely irrelevant product.
