The World vs. Lindsay Lohan

It’s no secret that taking responsibility for oneself is not exactly Lindsay Lohan’s forte. Well, at least it’s not a secret to everyone but the Linds, as is evidenced in her recent interview with E! in which she takes zero-percent of the blame for the problems in her life by pointing the finger at everyone, and everything but herself…

MUSIC Review: The Decemberists- The Hazards of Love

For anyone familiar with Oregon-based baroque pop-rockers, The Decemberists, the full-fledged rock/folk opera that is Hazards of Love should come as no surprise, rather, I’m more than a little startled that this hadn’t happened sooner. While the band has flirted with LP-length storylines before, from their earlier EP, The Tain, to 2006′s, The Crane Wife, this is their first attempt at that most conceited of rock conceits, the rock opera, a genre that has laid waste to many a band before them (see: The Who, Tommy).

Tinted Windows: America’s Next Supergroup?

Supergroups are often a dangerous proposition for record companies, and given the immense amounts of pure ego and cocaine involved, the potential for chaos amidst platinum sales is often too high to risk. But for every Zwan or Velvet Revolver, where prima donnas and/or exorbitant amounts of rehab cheques sabotage any attempt at longevity, there’s the chance to be a Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young or The Mars Volta and actually succeed in working together to create beautiful/terrible music.

The Otheroom is a Good Place to Have an Awkward Conversation

Are you looking for a dark room to hang out in with an extensive/expensive beer menu and a lot of people bumping into you? Then man-oh-man have I found the place for you. It’s called The Otheroom, in Venice. Now I know this article already reeks of pessimist sarcasm, but I’m here to assure you that the place wasn’t as bad as it seems right now. It’s one of the few bars in LA where you can actually sit, music to the ears of every stiletto-wearing fashionista in LA, right? And walking around in the dark, candle lit venue was pretty sexy, I’ll admit it. Oh, and there was easy street parking and valet…you’re not believing it, are you? Not to mention the lack of the usual LA creepers (Thank GOD). Yup, I spent two hours in this place without a random guy grabbing my arm, hips or ass.

In The Name of Fashion, Naomi Campbell Helps Victims of Mumbai Attacks

Supermodel and super-diva Naomi Campbell has never been known to be someone who … does anything discreetly, and for a while, her temper preceded her model status. But all of that was just dismissed as tabloid history as Campbell and IMG Fashion prepare for their latest Fashion For Relief’s “Mai Mumbai”. “Mai Mumbai” will take place during Lakme Fashion Week, India’s bi-annual fashion week, which is gaining traction on a global scale. About India, Campbell says, “I am honoured to be working with IMG Fashion on Fashion For Relief’s ‘Mai Mumbai’. I love India and have always felt very welcome when visiting the country. When the terrorist attacks happened last year my heart went out to the people of Mumbai.” Founded just 4 years ago by Campbell herself, Fashion For Relief had previously organized a runway show in New York, raising more than $1 million dollars for Hurricane Katrina relief.
