We Are the Ones

A few weeks ago I spent my day on the set for Will.I.Am’s new video in support of Barack Obama,”We Are the Ones.” If you haven’t seen the old one, “Yes We Can,” check it out on dipdive.com. While on the set, I met a lot of interesting people and interviewed celebrities involved in the project, like the afore mentioned Jessica Alba. You can see my interview with Alba here.Recently I was talking to a good friend of mine who opined that politics=emotion. The equation is simple, but true. I must admit that I never really saw it that way until spending a long day on the set, surrounded by people fired up about Obama. Everyone involved in the video shoot, celebrities and crew alike, seemed to be excited, enthusiastic and passionate about the potential president. Politics are emotional, and recently we’ve seen more emotion enveloping politicians (old and new) than I have ever seen in my lifetime.Resonating with the new video, and the platform that the media has linked to Obama, change is a huge issue in 2008. However, I believe that we can’t rely on politicians to give us change. Yes, they can help, but we need to be the ones changing things. We need to be the ones making sure our country is becoming what we want it to be on an individual level first. That is what “We Are the Ones” means to me, check it out for yourself.
