History has this irritating tendency of repeating itself. Mom pants, horrible rom-coms, and even the economic recession have seeped their way back into the cultural mainstream. And of the three, it’s probably best to guess that the recession is the biggest disaster, though mom pants veer in at a close second. But leave it to Angelenos to find a way to bend the rules and rewrite history with a flourish and a twist: in response to increasingly shallow wallets, trendy L.A. bars and eateries are offering up prime deals with reduced prices and recession-themed specials throughout the week. Foodies of Los Angeles, rejoice!

Being a fashion designer in itself is already not environmentally friendly. Designers create; the process involves materials that must come from somewhere, and production requires energy. It is difficult to achieve this balance, but a special panel held last Monday at the Hammer Museum zeroed in on the future of luxury fashion and sustainability.

For whatever reason, it seems like electronic music is getting more and more popular as days go by. With the mainstream success of electronic acts like JUSTICE, we must beg the question; where can we hear these tunes live! On October 31, 2008, concert organizers HARD crafted an electronic show unlike any other, otherwise known as the beast that was HARD Haunted Mansion. The 3 stage event packed more world renowned DJs into one night than few other nights before. Aforementioned JUSTICE headlined with other seriously bonkers performances by Soulwax, Deadmau5, Boys Noize and Crystal Castles.

Chic? Subjective. Roomy? Sure. Economical? You betcha. Would I drive this around in Los Angeles? Hell no! It looks like a metallic Shamu that was rejected from its clan and forced to drift onto the shores of America. Already a hit in Japan, the car is supposed to go for $13,990–aimed for those on a budget. With 1.8 L, 122 horsepower and four cylinders, it’s not really that impressive, but maybe will appeal to those who are hit hard by the faltering economy.
