Although there wasn’t the usual number of attendees, there will always be a box office king. “Guardians of the Galaxy” brought in another $16 million, holding it’s title of highest domestic grossing. “As Above, So Below” spammed social media with their promotional campaigns, but they only brought in an estimated $8 million this holiday weekend. The colorizing film, “The Giver” finished up the weekend with an estimated $5 million. Will the box office gross remain in the lower numbers, due to the lack of big blockbusters premiering in the following weeks? Tweet us your movie reviews and check out this weekend’s top grossing films in THEPOPFIX’s weekly installment of all things new at the box office!

Taking second place this weekend is the follow up film to the 2013 movie, “The Purge.” This sequel changes the perspective and highlights the terrifying scenarios for those who are locked outside when the purge commences. On a much happier note, “Planes: Fire & Rescue” finished up the top 3 weekend box office rank with an estimated $18 million. Lacking in performance was Cameron Diaz & Jason Segal’s comedy film, “Sex Tape.” If you saw the film, tweet us your review and let us know why you think “Sex Tape” came in at number 4. Check out this weekend’s top grossing films in THEPOPFIX’s weekly installment of all things new at the box office!

Who will become Earth’s dominate species? Well, that is for you to find out, but I can fully stand behind saying that “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes” dominated the box office. They brought in an estimated $73 million during their opening weekend, which knocked “Transformers: Age of Extinction” off of their box office throne. “Sex Tape” and “The Purge: Anarchy” will be released to theaters later this week, will the ape’s leader Caesar be able to defend their top spot? Tweet us your movie reviews and check out this weekend’s top grossing films in THEPOPFIX’s weekly installment of all things new at the box office!

Their latest comedy was the highest grossing film this weekend, defeating the sequel to the animated film, “How To Train Your Dragon.” Shockingly compared to last week’s rundown, “The Fault In Our Stars” switched places with “Edge Of Tomorrow.” I assume viewers didn’t feel like getting emotional and crying this weekend. I must comment that it is nice to still see an independent film like, “Chef,” still hold out a spot on the top 10. If you’ve hit the theaters lately, send us your Twitter review and you could see it featured on our website. Check out this weekend’s top grossing films in THEPOPFIX’s weekly installment of all things new at the box office!

“The Fault In Our Stars” Adapation Takes The Box Office http://thepopfix.com/2014/06/09/the-fault-in-our-stars-adapation-takes-the-box-office/ http://thepopfix.com/2014/06/09/the-fault-in-our-stars-adapation-takes-the-box-office/#comments Mon, 09 Jun 2014 19:23:42 +0000 http://thepopfix.com/?p=10488 There was no signs of weakness in John Green’s movie adaptation of “The Fault In Our Stars,” as it captured the top spot in this weekend’s box office. Audiences shed tears as they were filled with emotion in the very heartfelt film. Last week’s top ranker, “Maleficient,” had no need to shed a tear or two, coming in an honorable second in grossing. Tom Cruise’s “Edge Of Tomorrow” grabbed enough attention to bring in an estimated $29 million. This coming week a few of this summer’s highly anticaipatied movies will be making their debut, so expect some older films to no longer be in the top 10 grossing rank. “Maleficent” Reigns As Queen Of The Box Office http://thepopfix.com/2014/06/01/maleficent-reigns-as-queen-of-the-box-office/ http://thepopfix.com/2014/06/01/maleficent-reigns-as-queen-of-the-box-office/#comments Mon, 02 Jun 2014 05:06:35 +0000 http://thepopfix.com/?p=10194 Angelina Jolie takes the last piece of May movie cake, as she tops the box office with the untold story of “Maleficent.” Disney worked their story-telling magic and pulled in an estimated $70 million over the weekend in ticket sales. Jolie was mesmerizing as a fairy filled with vengeance and may I also add that she pulled off the comedic lines quite well. Unfortunately, the same could not be said for Seth MacFarlane’sA Million Ways To Die In The West,” which only debuted with half of what “X-Men: Days Of Future Past” brought in during their second week of showing. It’s now summer movie time, which means endless blockbusters. That being said, it’s doubtful to see a movie hold the number one spot for more than one week. After you hit the theaters make sure to send a tweet over to THEPOFPIX of your movie review, and you might just see it up on our site! Check out this weekend’s top grossing films in THEPOPFIX’s weekly installment of all things new at the box office!
