Boom Goes the Dynamite is Relevant Again

Every year at the Oscars there are subtle words, actions, and discreet pissed-off glances shot at winning actresses that the viewing public enjoys momentarily, but forgets soon afterward. But this year’s winner for Best Awkward Moment goes to Will Smith and a bad case of I-can’t-read-the-teleprompter-itis. While tripping over his words and presenting the nominees for Best Sound Editing, Will Smith says, “boom goes the dynamite,” a reference to the best/worst sports broadcaster in history whose legend will live on forever (thanks to the glory of youtube).

The Yeah Yeah Yeahs Bring the ‘Blitz’

In case you haven’t heard — the Yeah Yeah Yeahs are finally coming back, and with their new album “It’s Blitz!,” they mean business.
Just days after releasing the album’s first single, “Zero,” the rest of the songs were soon also leaked (and shh…just between you and me, it’s pretty awesome). Even Kanye’s helping out Karen O and the boys. But the real blitzing of the album actually comes from the band themselves, with the release of a brand-spanking new website and some behind-the-scenes footage of the making of …

Arrested Development Going to the Big Screen

It is with extremely passionate excitement that I can utter the following phrase without failing a lie detector test. THE ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT MOVIE IS ON (period). While there have been talks of such a film for the past, oh 3 or so years, Michael Cera has overcome his awkward ego and decided to reprise the role of George Michael Bluth. The entire original cast, which featured the likes of Jason Bateman, Will Arnett and David Cross, among others, is also set to return. Ron Howard, who narrated the 53 episode long series, has been rumored to direct while series creator Michael Hurwitz will pen the screenplay.

THE POP FIX Weekend Concert Picks

Jack Black is most well-known for his roles in such film classics as Kung-Fu Panda and School of Rock, but it’s with buddy and acoustic partner-in-crime Kyle Gass that he really shows off his comedic timing, not to mention impressive shredding skills. Fresh off the release of their latest live release, The Complete Masterworks Part II, the duo has again gone on tour to “rock the socks off” countless audiences. Whether it be debating the merits of gentle love-making vs. rough or pondering the possibility of an actual cock pushup, Tenacious D promise a wickedly entertaining show from the “greatest band in the world.”

Shut Up, Kristin Stewart

“Twilight” actress Kristin Stewart is annoying, we all knew this. Seriously, you’d think a smile would kill her? But apparently, she’s just as bitchy and ungrateful as she looks. Even though she starred in one of the most popular and highest-grossing films of the year (not to mention the enthusiastic fans who provided this astronomical success, as well as the demand for a sequel), she’s still pissed off, as she divulged to this month’s issue of Nylon magazine: “Anywhere we’d go for Twilight was a psychotic situation. The sound was deafening, and it’s thoughtless, as well… You get a slew of all these bullshit questions like, ‘What’s it like to kiss a vampire?’ and ‘How much do you love Robert?’”

500 Pounds of Drugs on the Bus?

Who said that 100 lbs. of weed was enough? Or 200 for that matter? Or 300 for that matter? Or 400 for that matter? Rapper Fabulous needs 500. According to The Boston Herald, Arkansas police found about 500 pounds of the mary-jane on the rapper’s tour bus. Let’s repeat that once more….500 pounds of pot. So, is it safe to assume that 400 wasn’t enough for this rapper and his entourage? Maybe they were on their way to visit Michael Phelps, Lil’ Wayne and Cheech and Chong.
