Bachelorisms

It’s that time of year again…

Every couple of months, an unnatural phenomenon known as “The Bachelor” is broadcast to America via ABC. This spectacle features one man, surrounded by women vying for his time, attention, and the all-important rose that will bring them one step closer to the final elimination ceremony. These beautiful and often insane women are lured in to this reality show with the promise of 15 minutes of fame and a happily-ever-after moment with a stranger they probably met 15 days before.

This season, the bait is Matt Grant, a 27-year-old British banker.

Poor Matt. You’ve got to feel bad for this guy. Judging from this picture, you’d probably think that he had a chance at an enjoyable love life but it looks like he’s out of luck.

Among the 25 girls on the show, his choices include…

Shayne

The aspiring actress, whose hot and cold performance on this show could get her an Emmy nomination.

Michelle P

The girl who got zero camera time until she decided to serenade Matt with a song she wrote herself that included the profound lyrics, “I want to feel you. I want you to feel me.” Apparently Matt wasn’t feeling it. Michelle was sent packing.

Erin S.

And how could anyone forget my personal favorite, the 33-year-old hot dog vendor. Did ABC neglect to tell Erin S. that her name and occupation would be displayed on national television everytime her face was shown?

But can we really blame these women for their behavior on “The Bachelor?” There is rarely a scene where the bachelorettes don’t have a drink with them. Liquid drama?Judging by the fact that drama-queen Shayne and the love struck singer-songwriter Ashlee both made it past last night’s elimination ceremony, I can confidently predict a plethora of embarrassing moments to come. Maybe a drunken rendition of “Teardrops on my Guitar?”

According to Matt’s bio, “his fondest dream is to share stories and a laugh at the end of the day with someone special.” If that’s all he wants, these girls might as well go home. Because as they look more and more ridiculous, Matt and the show’s producers are sharing stories and laughing all the way to the bank.

Good luck, Matt, we hope you find “the one!”
