Frenchman Anthony Gonzalez has been making quietly beautiful music since 2001, but his brand of shoegazing electronica with a tinge of ‘80s romanticism has never received as much critical acclaim as his most recent album, the John Hughes-worshipping Saturdays = Youth , did, placing on numerous “best-of” lists. Combine Gonzalez’s wispy vocals and ambient electronica with the consummate professionals of the Los Angeles Philharmonic and you have an indie lover’s wet dream and the makings of an epic show.
