THE POP FIX Review: Shwayze and LMFAO Leave Their Glocks At The Door

Last night, I caught a split headline show at the House of Blues featuring LMAO and Shwayze. It was, more or less, my first rap concert. The crowd was young, naïve and decidedly un-tan if you catch my drift. This is hip hop for the whitest kids possible. It’s the equivalent of that kid shampoo that doesn’t sting your eyes when the foam gets all aggressive. And you know what, it’s pretty damn catchy.

THE POP FIX Pick: Louis Carreon

Los Angeles-based artist du jour and former prison inmate Louis Carreon is Tinsel Town’s go-to graffiti artist, mingling with Hollywood socialites at art gallery openings and schmoozing with rock stars at hot spots throughout L.A. - all while sober. Already popular with the young Hollywood crowd - Paris Hilton and Adrian Grenier are fans - Carreon is still in the precarious position of being simultaneously not-quite-mainstream and almost too “industry” for the art world.

COMPLETE FASHION WEEK REVIEW: Paris Draws the Line Between Fantasy & Reality

Editors and buyers may have skimped out on the New York, London and Milan shows due to the costs of traveling, but all the front-row regulars were present in the City of Light for Paris Fashion Week.

Watchful eyes were on Valentino’s Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pier Paolo Piccioli, delivering their sophomore collection, and Balmain’s Christophe Decarnin, who had to somehow top his much-raved-about Spring 2009 collection. Perhaps expectations were too heavy on the three, as Chiuri and Piccioli’s collection drew yawns from the front-row, and Decarnin’s collection was simply an extension (a dull one at that) of his Spring line.
