For those of you pining for a follow up to the 2006 movie “The Devil Wears Prada” might have to wait a few more years for a silver screen sequel. But a same-vein alternative based on another Lauren Weisberger novel might be well on it’s way.

According to our sources, screenwriter, Matthew Hamby has penned a spec script of Lauren Weisberger’s, “Chasing Harry Winston” with producers in the UK hoping to move things forward in acquiring the rights.

“Chasing Harry Winston” is based on the book from bestselling author of “The Devil Wears Prada,” “Everyone Worth Knowing,” as well as the newly released “Revenge Wears Prada.”

Matthew Hamby is best known for his brilliant short horror film “Subject 13″ which gained him noticeable interest from producers in London, advising him that it should become a feature in its own right. Hamby was also worked as a producer for the low-budget sci-fi thriller, “Safehouse” and is certainly a talent to look out for in the near future.

In 2008, Universal Studios bought the rights to “Chasing Harry Winston” with the intention of adapting it into a movie, but never followed through on its plans. With the option rights to the property still available we are sure to be seeing some development on this property very soon.
