OK, so let’s get this out of the way. “Observe and Report,” though featuring 2009’s second narrative about a mall cop, is not even remotely close to January’s “Paul Blart” in anyway. In fact the two films should only exist side by side to show how entirely un-mainstream “Observe and Report” is. What Hill and star Seth Rogen have crafted in the 90 minutes that follow once you sit down to watch “Observe and Report” can be described by many highly colorful adjectives. The film is shocking, graphic, lewd and entirely inappropriate. And I loved every minute of it.

After pulling in record-breaking numbers for Universal last weekend, it has been rumored that a fifth The Fast and The Furious sequel has already been green lit. After going back to a similar sounding name for the fourth film in the series, Fast & Furious, the studio is reportedly hard at work coming up with another clever sounding name to remind us that it is indeed another sequel to the franchise…

When you bust out a gem that quite literally sets America ablaze, the world is your oyster. Just ask Greg Mottola, who directed that little movie you may have heard of called Superbad. The guy could have directed any movie he wanted. While I don’t know the hard details of this story, I would ASSUME that given the incredible success of Superbad, the man had some serious offers on the table to consider.

The immense success of a movie like “Slumdog Millionaire” has proven that Americans MAY be in fact straying from their xenophobic fear of subtitles. While “Slumdog” was hardly a true foreign film, it was fresh and foreign enough to put Bollywood and Indian films on the map of anyone who was lucky enough to see the film. It is my hope that this momentum enables people to step out of their comfort zone and see a movie like “Sin Nombre.” OK, so the film has subtitles. Those who can break out of their mainstream “Iron Man” blockbuster mind state and engage their mind will be subjected to a truly unique experience and one that will both educate and entertain like few movies can.

Last night, I caught a split headline show at the House of Blues featuring LMAO and Shwayze. It was, more or less, my first rap concert. The crowd was young, naïve and decidedly un-tan if you catch my drift. This is hip hop for the whitest kids possible. It’s the equivalent of that kid shampoo that doesn’t sting your eyes when the foam gets all aggressive. And you know what, it’s pretty damn catchy.

Congratulations are somewhat in order to “Watchmen” director Zack Snyder as his follow up to “300″ took in an estimated 55.7 million dollars. This, however was less than the 70-odd million that “300″ took in opening weekend and most certainly less than was expected for “Watchmen.” It’s tough to tell what the reason for the less-than-spectacular turnout would be. Could it be the giant, glowing blue genitals of Dr. Manhattan?

For whatever reason, it seems like electronic music is getting more and more popular as days go by. With the mainstream success of electronic acts like JUSTICE, we must beg the question; where can we hear these tunes live! On October 31, 2008, concert organizers HARD crafted an electronic show unlike any other, otherwise known as the beast that was HARD Haunted Mansion. The 3 stage event packed more world renowned DJs into one night than few other nights before. Aforementioned JUSTICE headlined with other seriously bonkers performances by Soulwax, Deadmau5, Boys Noize and Crystal Castles.

One of the most ubiquitous concepts in college is, well, Spring Break. The one week of the year that you can drink more booze, smoke more drugs and have more sex than you already do every other week in college. So, when I heard that it was March already and spring break was around the corner, I decided to carpe-cubicle and do a little break-ing of my own, a virtual spring break if you may…
