Another Peter Pan reboot? Yes, Hollywood is still continuing their recycled twists on classic tales. This time around “Pan” will be penned by Jason Fuchs, writer of “Ice Age: Continental Drift.According to Variety, this adaptation “will take place during World War II and will follow an orphan named Peter who gets kidnapped by pirates and taken to Neverland.” Here he will fulfill his destiny and defend the land from the pirate Blackbeard (who will be played by Hugh Jackman)! Variety also reports that the role of Tiger Lily will be played by Rooney Mara of David Fincher‘s “The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo.” Until we find out the concrete cast, let’s reminisce about our:

POP 5 Favorite “Peter Pan” Characters!

5. Dante Basco as Rufio:

The oldest of the Lost Boys with the spiky, red-striped hair. It’s hard to forget his badass look and cocky attitude in the 1991 film “Hook.THEPOPFIX was even graced with his presence in our POP 5: Best Movie Mohawks video!

4. Rachel Hurd-Wood as Wendy Darling:

This young actress embodied the character brilliantly in the 2003 adaptation “Peter Pan.” Her innocent blue eyes that craved adventure got her caught up in a battle between Captain Hook and Peter. Compared to the 1953 Disney version, she delivered a more spunky rendition of the character that was not afraid of Hook.

3. Dustin Hoffman as Captain Hook

As a child of the 90’s, I was terrified when Dustin Hoffman joined Rufio as Captain Hook in “Hook.” The black mustache combined with the shiny, sharp pointed hook had me hoping a crocodile was near. The current TV version of Hook on “Once Upon A Time,” is cotton candy and sprinkles compared to Hoffman’s infamous portrayal.

2. Original Animated Tinker Bell

Although we got a laugh out of Julia Roberts playing Tinker Bell in “Hook,” it would be a sin not to choose Disney’s 1953 version of the fairy in “Peter Pan.” The world was then introduced to a character that would become “a symbol of ‘the magic of Disney’.” Maybe we liked her because it was a non speaking role? Sorry, Julia…

1. Original Animated Peter Pan

Once again, it would be a true crime to not choose the animated Pan from “Peter Pan.” This original Disney movie set up costume wise what all future characters would be inspired or based upon. Voiced by Bobby Driscoll, we all wanted to fly away to Neverland and sword fight with pirates. The character taught us an important lesson to never lose our imagination and youthfulness. At least, that’s what I am going to keep telling people when they say that I need to grow up!
