A slow weekend when it comes to musical offerings in Los Angeles, but THE POP FIX has still found enough star power to fill up any avid concertgoer’s weekend. Whether you enjoy MTV-ready, teenage-girl-wooing guitar pop, middle-class rap, or classier, jazz-inflected fare, L.A. is yours for the listening.

Few expected Illinois rocker Plain White T’s to elevate any further beyond “one-hit wonder” status with smash single “Hey There Delilah,” but new single “1, 2, 3, 4” have shattered any hopes of the band being relegated to bargain bin status anytime soon. Check out the band and hundreds of screaming girls this Thursday over in Hollywood, but be quick: it wouldn’t be a surprise if the show sold out.

Japanese/European/American classically-trained pianist Rachael Yamagata has been quietly making superb piano-pop with a jazz/blues bent for years, and her last album, 2008’s Elephants…Teeth Sinking Into Heart has been widely acclaimed. She is also a prolific guest artist, having recorded with the likes of Bright Eyes and Ryan Adams, so it should come as little surprise that her Saturday show at the Troubadour is technically sold out: tickets, however, have been spotted at Stubhub and other online sellers.
