This “Bates Motel” star doesn’t have much time for a pop culture obsession, especially while studying at Cambridge.

Schooling is very important to many of Hollywood’s biggest stars, and for Freddie Highmore, this remains true. I learned this when I asked Freddie, “What’s your fix?”

“I guess at the moment my circus is actually these sort of final exams at University, which sounds pretty boring, but they’re only a few weeks away now. And so I’ve been reading loads of Latin American literature which has been great.  There have been some great books on Funtese, I’ve got a fantastic professor at the college here and he does lots of (kinds of fun) novels.

Carlton Cuse the executive producer of “Bates Motel” also shared with us what Freddie’s character Norman Bates’ pop fix would be.

“Norman would be excited about seeing like a Preston Sturges movie. Maybe reading some Jo De Pasion or Hemingway. He’s probably most likely listening to Beethoven instead of Katy Perry.
