With the success of “American Horror Story: Asylum,” it is safe to say that America enjoys a haunting tale that revolves around a mental institute. Martin Scorsese’s 2010 film, “Shutter Island,” starred Leonardo DiCaprio and opened with mixed reviews. Although the film was one of the major blockbusters during that year, Scorsese fans believed the movie fell short to his other projects. I personally enjoyed both “Asylum” and “Shutter Island,” so I cannot wait to watch this series. The HBO show will be based on the actual hospital, “Ashecliffe.” The episodes will dive into the history of the asylum and uncover the wrongdoings of previous owners and employees.

Producer James Wan is about to give life to a new terror that will frighten us all. We cringed in horror as we watched the 2013 film, “The Conjuring,” and now the doll that has only once made a small appearance is getting her own story. Let’s be honest, life-like dolls are scary to begin with. Now thanks to “Annabelle,” parents may have to rethink what toys they purchase for their child. A new trailer has been released for “Annabelle” and it sure does have us on the edge of our seats. By that I mean, “Sorry guys I’m out of here!” While the trailer fails to deliver any context clues into why the doll is possibly haunted, it does provide more than enough reason to fear the demented doll. Catch “Annabelle” in theaters on October 3rd.

We may be a few months away from Halloween, but someone has already started the terror. Singer Ryan Adams has just released his music video for his latest single, “Gimme Something Good.” Appearing throughout the video and in Adam’s dreams is the Mistress of the Dark herself, Elvira. This series will be based off of Guillermo del Toro and Chuck Hogan’s 2009 vampire horror novel, which has the same title. FX has ordered 13-episodes for the upcoming series, that will be premiering on July 13th. After a plane with the lights off and the doors closed lands at JFK airport, investigators discover 200 corpses and 4 survivors. Soon these bodies start disappearing from the morgues and the epidemiologist and his team find themselves battling an ancient threat to all of humanity. The evil strain of vampirism begins to spread all over New York and if not stopped the whole world. Casting includes that of Corey Stoll, Mia Maestro, Sean Astin, Kevin Durand, Natalie Brown, Jonathan Hyde, Richard Sammel, Robert Maillet, Jack Kesy, Ben Hyland, and Miguel Gomez.

The Tim Burton classic turns 26 this week and the ghost with the most has appeared in the news a lot over the last six months as original cast and crew have been discussing the possibility of returning for a sequel.

It started back in October when our friends the Schmoes reported that Tim Burton was in talks to direct a follow up. Actress Winona Rider added fuel to the fire the following month when she said that despite being “sworn to secrecy” it looked like the sequel “might be happening” going on to say that the film that was being discussed was “not a remake.” Recently on a press tour for “Robocop,” Michael Keaton himself confirmed that the role was one that he was always interested in returning to but only if Burton was involved. According to Keaton, it looks like he is.

This week, some high profile guest stars were announced for Season 2 of the series including “Alias” star Michael Vartan as Norma’s new love interest and “90210″ alum Kathleen Robertson as the mysterious head of the town’s drug family. Also making appearances are Rebecca Creskoff, Kenny Johnson and Michael O’Neill.

Season 1 of “Bates Motel” is currently streaming instantly on Netflix and Season 2 returns to A&E on Monday, March 3.
