How to Look Fine in ‘09!

The new year is upon us and we are all ready to stop hearing about a crashing Stock Market and Recessions! I want people to dress better and I want people to care about fashion and the clothes they choose to put on their backs. My resolution for this year is to take one piece from my closet that I hate and give it away. Please don’t dress like you hate fashion in 2009. I know there is a Recession, but people please dress up once in a while. I am recommending we not only dress up for tonight, but for all of 2009. Dressing up an outfit with a nice fitted trench coat has never felt better.

Sex and MY City

I’ve heard it said that Paris is the city of love.

And while it may be true in a classical sense, in my opinion, Los Angeles is the new Paris. But thanks to recent pop culture phenomena (particularly one created by Darren Starr, starring Sarah Jessica Parker) many Americans have been trying to make New York City the go-to destination for lovers and for those who are hoping to find one. But starry-eyed, naïve girls should no longer flock to N.Y.C. to find a man.

Starting over isn’t always easy…

Just ask Whitney Port. Like the former cast member of The Hills, THE POP FIX has had it’s share of trials and tribulations as we’ve embarked on a mission to start anew. But unlike Miss Port, who’s been navigating new terrain with expensive cocktails and dinner parties, we’ve spent countless hours and many long nights writing, meeting, designing, creating color palettes, and CSS-ing. Sometimes, these nights were only supplemented with a sugary Starbucks beverage at our side, although we often wished it was a dirty martini.

Dearest Readers,
Welcome to THE POP FIX.
I know that you’re probably thinking that this site has had more facelifts than Joan Rivers. But that’s not true…we’ve had more facelifts than Joan Rivers, Melissa Rivers, and Janice Dickinson combined.
Although this may be the sad truth, let’s not forget where we are. This is LA and the only thing worse than going out of style is looking like it. So here is our new and improved site. It’s bigger, it’s better, and it’s staffed with the juiciest of hand-picked pop culture enthusiasts who …

Fall Out Boy – Folie à Deux
Island 2008
Rating: 3.5/5
This year, 2008, was one of change and growth in more than one respect, and the realm of emo was no different. First it was theatrical Vegas boys Panic at the Disco dropping the ! from their name and releasing an album of Beatles-influenced psychedelic-pop (Pretty. Odd.) that threw all preconceived notions about the band to the wind. Then emo grandfathers Weezer dropped the ball on their new album, hearkening back to a time …

All American Rejects – When The World Comes Down
After 2005’s commercial smash and new emo-pop standard Move Along, a record that gave birth to three ubiquitous top 20 singles and a legion of teenage-girl fans, Oklahoma’s most cheerful rockers had nowhere to go but down. Enlisting Good Charlotte and Smash Mouth producer Eric Valentine and releasing the album more than three years after Move Along, an eternity in the Billboard world, singer/bassist Tyson Ritter and Co. brandish their inner arena-rockers on When …

“Quantum of Sadness” and Other Recent Flicks

Quantum of Sadness:

In a recent interview with Ben Lyons of E! Daniel Craig responded to comparisons between the new Bond film, Quantum of Solace to Bourne Identity by saying that “Bond films are about fast cars, tailored suits, and beautiful women and not about jumping in and out of buildings like Bourne.” But after seeing the movie, I disagree with Mr. Craig because this Bond film, unlike the past ones, was very much about jumping in and out of buildings. It seems that this Bond film was on steroids …

Okay, so I’ll admit it. I prepared a month for this night, the night where I’d meet Se7en and other Korean American “celebrities”. Why? Well, if I have to tell the honest-to-Johnny Walker-truth, I didn’t want to be referred to as that fugly guy who egregiously stuck out like Kim Jong Il in a sea of more than 5-feet tall, good looking people. To be more frank, I wanted nothing more than to part the yellow sea with a flicker of my hands, controlling the night and the people effortlessly. …
