Craig Ferguson Gets A Friendly Send-Off From David Letterman
As most of you know, Craig ferguson will be departing from the “Late Late Show” after a ten year run. This news was a shock to many and caused a bit of questioning, due to the fact that David Letterman had also announced his retirement previously. We are experiencing a transition of late night as a whole. Conan O’Brien was sent off to TBS, Jimmy Fallon replaced Jay Leno, Seth Meyers replaced Jimmy Fallon, and now Stephen Colbert will be taking Letterman’s seat. Most of these decisions whether they claim it is or not, we all know they more than likely have to do with negotiations going south, and so on. As much as I feel the need to feed these viewership rumors or contract dispute rumors, I’d like to show some appreciation towards Ferguson.
There really is no other late show like his. He has established his own little niche in television. For those who were still awake by the time his show came on, his spontaneous personality made them smile and laugh. The entire show felt like as if you were just hanging out with Ferguson, discussing current events and gossiping with celebrities. I visited his show many times, (whether I was being paid to fill in audience seats or not), I have some really great memories thanks to his shows. I loved when he would rip up the blue note cards and sit back in his chair and just riff-raff with the guest. Who else has a talking robot and dancing horse on their show? Also, you can’t forget his snake mug! I believe that Ferguson is a very genuine and honest guy, so I am going to give him the benefit of the doubt and say it was purely his decision to leave. I wish him luck on all his future endeavors. Letterman also took a moment out of his show to share a few kind words about Ferguson’s announcement. You can check out the video of this below.
How do you feel about Ferguson’s announcement? Also does Jimmy Kimmel need to be worried?
