What’s In Heavy Rotation: Erin Darling’s Make-Up Bag
I’ve always been a beauty product junkie. Even as a little girl, I would sneak into my Mother’s cosmetic collection whenever I had the chance! Not much has changed since those days, except now, Sephora is my grown-up equivalent of Mom’s make-up bag.
As a TV and web host, it’s part of my job to at least look as good as good as my headshot. Although you wouldn’t guess from my massive collection of lip glosses, blushes and eye shadows, I only rely on a few products for my day to day routine. Everything else you see here is just for the rare occassion when I feel like swiping on some red lipstick or blending some purple shadow into my usual smokey-eye. I organize my make-up case based on conveniece, the things I use the most are within easy reach, and my “special occasion” products find their way to the bottom.
Bare Escentuals Bare Minerals is my foundation of choice. I found my way to Bare Minerals after a department store brand liquid foundation (who will go unnamed) gave me an allergic reaction. After that terrible experience, I immeditaley switched to Bare Minerals after hearing it was a more sensitive product and I haven’t looked back since! I also like Bare Minerals “Warmth” powder which is a great bronzer, and the “Mineral Veil” which I dust over my face to help set my make-up.
My favorite blush of all time is Nars in “Orgasm,” which I always reccomend to my friends, regardless of their skin tone. I first discovered “Orgasm” while living in Paris with three roommates; one was Italian, one was Armenian, and the other was half-Mexican. I kid you not, we all shared this blush and it looked fantastic on all of us! It may be a little pricey, but definitely worth the money.
MAC matte lipstick in “Brave” is my go-to lip color. I’m always looking for fleshy, neutral colors because they’re fool-proof and look great by themselves, or topped with your favorite gloss. “Brave” is the best neutral-toned lipstick I’ve found so far.
For eyeshadow, I stick with Stila. I love their customizable palettes, it’s the best way to carry all of your shadows easily! You only need four to create an easy smokey eye. My staples are, “Kitten,” a peachy, shimmery gold, “Oasis,” a light highlighter with gold flecks, “Nanda Devi,” a matte dark brown, and “Makalu,” black.
