THE POP FIX Weekend Concert Picks 06/11-06/14
THE POP FIX kicks off the summer concert season in style this weekend – from indie chanteuses to some of the hardest rappers in the game, the next four days more than make up for the live music drought Los Angeles has been suffering from the past few weeks.
Camera Obscura – The Music Box at the Fonda 06/11/09
DOORS OPEN @ 8:00PM
Fresh off their critically acclaimed fourth album My Maudlin Career, this Scottish sextet lead by honey-voiced frontwoman Tracyanne Campbell hits their second L.A. stop in two days this Thursday. Paste Magazine called their latest effort “45 minutes-plus of blessed-out orchestral indie pop,” so expect the show to pull out all the instrumental stops and more a six-piece band can muster, not to mention another showcase of Campbell’s excellent vocal prowess.

Phone: 323-464-0808
Tickets are available at ticketmaster.com and the Music Box box office.
Neko Case – Greek Theatre 06/12/09
DOORS OPEN @ 7:30PM
The female side of the New Pornographer supergroup and an immensely talented solo artist in her own right, the fiery Case’s latest tour for her #3-charting album Middle Cyclone and the highest charting independent record of 2009 so far. And don’t forget what made it all possible and what may make this show the highlight of the weekend, the Voice, which the New York Times called “a belter, a force of nature, a kind of vocal tornado.” Indie icon and founder of Grandaddy, singer-songwriter Jason Lytle, is slated to guest.

Tickets are available at ticketmaster.com and the Greek Theatre box office.
Clipse – CLUB NOKIA @ LA Live 06/13/09
DOORS OPEN @ 7:00PM
Virginia-based rap duo Clipse, made up of brothers Malice and Pusha T, continues to build up the hype for their upcoming fourth album, Till The Casket Drops, which drops in September. After 2006’s Hell Hath No Fury garnered multiple album-of-the-year nominations and praise, expect the show, which also features B.O.B. and Diz Gibran, to feature typically relentless beats and the duo’s venomous, jaded rhymes. And plenty of talk about the coke trade.
800 West Olympic Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90015
Phone: 213-765-7000
Tickets are available at ticketmaster.com and the CLUB NOKIA box office.
