5 CDs To Bring Back This Summer
Looking for some new music to rotate into your iPod playlists, but lack the funds to download freely? Not to worry, in my opinion, oldies are always goodies. Here are some CDs you can borrow from your roommate or pick up at your local used music store. Who knows, these dated gems might even be in your current music collection…and you simply forgot you had them.
Either way, here’s my summer selection of great CDs that should be taken out of retirement for summer ‘09.
1. LFO-LFO
These two-hit wonders definitely hit the peak of their popularity in the late 90’s. While their hit-producing ability died along with the boy-band craze, their beloved track “Summer Girls” lives on. Who doesn’t love a good throw back? Play this CD at a BBQ with your friends and impress them with your memory! Bonus points if you can actually remember the whole chorus. Challenging, I know.
2. Feist- Let it Die
Exhausted from the LA heat? The days may be warming up, but as the sun goes down it’s always nice to light some vanilla scented candles and put on a little Feist. Pour a glass of chilled Pinot Grigio, play “Leisure Suite” and I think you’ll start to understand the true meaning of relaxation.
3. Coheed and Cambria- In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth: 3
Just because it’s one amazing album. And because it will come in handy when you’re on a long road trip when things are getting boring in the car. And because you’ll need a refresher before you go see them at Lollapalooza this August. Convinced? Good.
4. E-40- My Ghetto Report Card
Because a summer house party ain’t a legit house party without “U and Dat (Booty).” Ya heard?
5. Razorlight- Up All Night
Pop this sucker in before you head out to cocktail hour. This album is guaranteed to put even the biggest of pessimists and misanthropes in a good mood. “Golden Touch” and “Rip it Up” are my personal favorite feel-good tracks.
I LOVE FEIST!
that razorlight CD blows their other ones out of the water. “Vice” is disgustingly good
Thanks for bringing us back to life! We actually had a few more hits after the “2″! Have a great summer.
Is this the real Brad? I love your album!
