Unfortunately, 2010 Brings Us More LiLo & Ed Hardy
While at home, resting from my job, I’ve had the time to scroll through news about fashion from all over the world. And to close this magnificent year that brought us so many wonders, I would like to add my thoughts on two lesser wonders; Lilo’s “extended” fashion line, and a Q&A from the man behind Ed Hardy himself, Christian Audigier.
I found the sketches for Lindsay Lohan’s new collection at New York Magazine. Rocker. Fashionable. Edgy. Exactly what you would expect, nothing major, nothing that requires a lot of imagination. Simple and plain clothes that you could easily find at H&M or Forever21, but with prices well above the $100 mark. Are they cool? Well, the sketches are pretty decent. Is the price reasonable? Hell no.
I am not saying, “don’t buy these clothes” I am just saying that you can find the same elsewhere for a lot less money. Also, they are manufactured by the same company that does Ed Hardy, so, it’s not couture. And, who would pay $600 for a leather jacket? Come on! It’s not like Victoria Beckham designed it. I also think it’s a disgrace that any big department store would agree to carry these garments, since Lindsay is not one for the fashion world (don’t get me started on her horrible collaboration with Ungaro), yet, thousands of designers would kill to be able to sell at important stores and boutiques. Sad, sad, sad…
Speaking of sad clothes, Ed Hardy’s mastermind, Audigier, has spoken to the same magazine. He talks about Ralph Lauren and cologne. He’s also giving tips… It’s like asking for tips from Michael Lohan! Come on people, don’t listen! Ed Hardy’s clothes are just so, how can I put it? Trashy.
Believe me, I speak from experience. I have a couple Ed Hardy pieces that I do not wear anymore. If you want to recreate a Hardy-esque look, try D&G or Emporio Armani instead for a similar effect, minus the loud and distracting designs. Below are a couple of choices. With these options, why enter 2010 looking like a passe fashion plate? Do yourself a favor and start the year sans Ed Hardy. As for the ladies, avoid Lindsay Lohan’s overpriced designs if you choose to recognize we are still in a reccession.
D&G V-NECK HENLEY TEE (deep V-neck which will be very fashionable this spring) at Neiman Marcus
EMPORIO ARMANI NUMBERS AND SPOTS T-SHIRT (again, deep V-necks) at Emporio Armani
D&G POLO (keep most buttons opened!) @ Neiman Marcus

Lame entry.
1) no one cares for Ed Hardy. We got it that no one wears his clothes. That’s SO 2 years ago.
2) Victoria Beckham? One word: dVb. Why would she design ANYTHING germane?
3) The article isn’t from NY Mag, it’s from The Independent.
4) All of your v-necks are totally fugly. Who in their right minds would wear things so hideous? Oh yeah, those gays in Weho.
5) Why write that Lindsay’s Ungaro leggings are even “edgy?” Clearly even Ungaro didn’t want care for the clothes and her pasties-laden fashion showing, as their contract’s ending sooner.
6) why would any fashion-forward male want to recreate Ed Hardy? Clearly if they’re fashion forward in thinking they’d go with a Topman shirt, something from Ransom, or hell, even Urban Outfitters….or, umm, hello, American Apparel?
Okay, enough. This article’s just plain…umm what’s the phrase? Out of touch, much?
The only thing Lindsay Lohan should be designing is a way to get her career back on track. I’ve seen some of her personal fashion choices and she is by no means an authority on this subject.
I wish these celebs would stick to what they know best. Lindsay could lend her name to a new brand of Vodka or a rehab clinic. That would be closer to her relm of expertise. Leave the fashion to the legit designers.
This look is over! On to the next…lame tee shirts are boring, Ed Hardy!
Is it just me or is Men’s fashion same old boring stuff year after yaer. Womens fashion is so cutting edge, new intresting and exciting while the guys throw on a T-shirt and call it a day. YAWN.
