THE POP FIX REVIEW: Duplicity

If you’re looking for an entertaining flick with sex appeal, “Duplicity” is your best bet at the box office. Director Tony Gilroy brings us spies, travel, betrayal, and snappy dialogue. Sounds alluring? I assure you it is. “Duplicity” is “Mr. and Mrs. Smith” with a better plot and more twists and turns than you’d find in a large order of curly fries from Jack in the Box.

Audrina Patridge Aspires to Bring Acid Wash Back

Please somebody stop this pathetic excuse for a celebrity before she incites the demise of all things related to style. I understand that fashion is cyclical and that what’s been done will probably be done again, but there are some trends that simply should not be resurrected. Acid wash denim is of those trends. May I remind you…

POPPIN’ Viral Video: Southwest Got Swagga

By now, all you true-blue POP FIX fans out there should know that we love to rap. For proof, check out the video on the home page for our red-carpet coverage of Kollaboration. We also love to fly, because hey, it beats the hell out of cross-country driving. Somehow, through endless amounts of Youtube searching, we found a rising viral video that combines my two loves of rapping and flying. Don’t you wish you were on this flight? My opinion of Southwest just jumped about 100 points.

Former Project Runway competitor, Kenley Collins can take a break from designing her next line…all this girl needs to worry about right now, is staying fashionable in her jail cell. TMZ is reporting that this Project Runway loser used her cat as a means to injure her sleeping ex-fiance, Zak Penley. Talk about Lorena Bobbitt in training!

Has Valentino Retired… From Retirement?

A commemorative coffee table book, a documentary and Legion d’Honneur may not have been enough to keep master couturier and designer Valentino Garavani in retirement. In ways I suppose we all knew he would be bored (or unfulfilled) basking in the sun all day, working on his orange complexion.

HSM Star Gets Down and Dirty

Zac Efron, the microphone wielding, hip-swinging, king of put-on-your-dancing-shoes-and-let’s-pretend-high-school-was-a-happy-musical-production graces the pages of April’s Interview magazine. Perhaps in an effort to shed his squeaky clean image, Efron gets downright dirty. The “High School Musical” actor is so lubed up, he practically slips out of the pages out of the magazine. Oh, wouldn’t that be nice…

A POPPIN’ REVIEW: Sin Nombre

The immense success of a movie like “Slumdog Millionaire” has proven that Americans MAY be in fact straying from their xenophobic fear of subtitles. While “Slumdog” was hardly a true foreign film, it was fresh and foreign enough to put Bollywood and Indian films on the map of anyone who was lucky enough to see the film. It is my hope that this momentum enables people to step out of their comfort zone and see a movie like “Sin Nombre.” OK, so the film has subtitles. Those who can break out of their mainstream “Iron Man” blockbuster mind state and engage their mind will be subjected to a truly unique experience and one that will both educate and entertain like few movies can.

Fergie Experiences a Temporary Lapse in Judgement?

In my humble opinion, Fergie can do no wrong. She’s got it all: hot career, hot body, hot husband. Let’s be honest, the girl peed on stage and she’s still got it. That’s when you know you’re, quite literally, “the piss.” I’ve even loved her from the long-ago days of Wild Orchid…don’t remember them? Don’t worry, if you weren’t a voracious subscriber to Teen Magazine in the years of 1998-2000, you’re exempt. Considering the fact that I think Fergie is fabulous, I don’t feel bad saying that her recent switch from blonde to brunette is the worst choice The Duchess could have made.
