Review: Franz Ferdinand-Tonight

Scottish foursome Franz Ferdinand always towered above many of their peers with their concise blasts of tuneful guitar hooks, dance rhythms, and singer Alex Kapranos’ wry, irrepressibly clever lyrics.  Franz Ferdinand’s third album, Tonight: Franz Ferdinand, has been three years in the making, and longtime fans expecting a return to the angular [...]

Lindsay Lohan Ate Two Meals.

While other well-known actors and actresses are being recognized through Golden Globe/SAG/Academy Award nominations for their hard work and commitment to the art of acting, Lindsay Lohan is being recognized for her commitment to eating. Although the 22-year-old starlet looks like her daily intake consists of a Tic-Tac and a Diet Snapple, Lohan’s rep is defending the actress and claiming that she doesn’t have a problem. Lohan’s rep told the New York Post that, “Lindsay is aware that she’s lost some weight due to stress, but we recently did a photo shoot and she ate two full meals.”

Mickey Rourke and Evan Rachel Wood Might Be Getting It On

Mickey Rourke and Evan Rachel Wood might be sharing more than the silver screen…saliva could be involved as well. Wait, did I really just write that? Gross. The two co-stars of “The Wrestler” could possibly be a couple as well. While the film was in production, it was rumored that the two actors were dating, but they have denied the fact that they are anything more than friends. And we believed them…until now… E! Online reports that Rourke and Wood were getting pretty cozy at a SAG after party, “The costars hung together all night at the Wrestler table, and Wood seemed to stare down any gal or fan that wanted to come up and say hello to Mick.” The LA Times even reports that the two were full-on making out, “According to Fox News Pop Tarts, the pair were spotted at Grey Goose’s official SAG after-party at the Shrine after the show. They then showed up at the late-night after-party at the Four Seasons Hotel…the actress “went upstairs with Rourke (whose second marriage ended over a decade ago) when he suddenly grabbed her for a lip-lock in the outside area of the swanky five-star hotel.”

Album Review: Animal Collective’s “Merriweather Post Pavilion”

I’ve always made it a goal of mine in life to try something new when the opportunity presents itself. From my pre-teen samplings of Indian delicacies to my developing infatuation with high-definition television, I’ve consistently found that new experiences are truly the spice of life. Sure, there will always be missteps along the way, such as my ill-fated attempt to appreciate modern art and my disastrous foray into death metal, but it’s the things you discover that make it all worthwhile. Animal Collective’s latest album, Merriweather Post Pavilion, is just the kind of new adventure that I look forward to the most: the musical expedition into the unknown. I’ve treaded the Collective’s path before; 2005′s Feels was a psychedelic enigma that I tried desperately to get into but never really succeeded; for one reason or another, the lyrics always seemed a bit too obtuse and the music way too far out of left field to ever really grab me. Perhaps that was why I never gave 2007′s Strawberry Jam a fair chance despite the oodles of critical acclaim, a decision I will surely re-think after listening to Pavilion. Again, Animal Collective has been showered with hyper-literate blogosphere praise and lauded for their experimental creativity, but don’t mistake this for the same old hype for musicians who dare to be different: Merriweather Post Pavilion is for real.

Sly’s Abs Look Like This…at 62!

Sylvester Stallone still eerily looks like he did five years ago. Scratch that. He looks better than he did five years ago.  Stallone puts me to shame and I’m four decades younger! He’s 62-years-old (63 in Oct)!
Why is this man still taking the roids hitting the gym as hard as he did for Rambo? His [...]
