Baby, You’re a Rich Man.

Paul McCartney is a musical genius. Unfortunately, he wasn’t as mentally gifted in the finance department.

He’s rich, he’s famous, he’s old…so when he decided to tie the knot with Heather Mills in 2002, why didn’t he have her sign a prenup? She’s 25 years his junior. You’d think that would be an instant red flag.

Why is everyone making Heather Mills out to be the bad guy, when McCartney was dumb enough to marry the one-legged gold digger without a prenup? By exchanging vows he gave her free access to his assets, and he must have known this. Sure, when we’re giddy with love it’s hard to anticipate a divorce in the future. But when you’re worth an estimated $1 billion, you owe it to your bank account and your children, to make Heather Mills sign something your lawyers draft out…and you know he’s got lawyers.

All the blame has fallen upon Mills for this ugly divorce battle which appears to have come down to money in the end. Have we forgotten that this could have been avoided if McCartney had insisted upon prenuptual agreements?

In any case, although McCartney lost nearly $50 million, he emerges the clear victor in this disaster of a divorce. With the respect and sympathy of the media, England, America, and…well, just about everyone in the free world (minus Heather Mills’ Mom), he will always be remembered as the poor Beatle who was wronged by a gold digger. Mills, on the other hand, has earned the punishment of having to live out her days with the most unflattering photographs accompanying any headline that features her name….

Just another example of why divorces are ugly. We congratulate McCartney and Mills for finally reaching some sort of agreement, and wish them the best as they move on with their lives.
